4This was a gift for my cousin's 60th which was gratefully received with her love of gardening. I hope however, when removed from the box,the trowel wipes and looks shiny as it does in the picture - it didn't when I received it and I didn't want to open and start and wiping / messing with it. I couldn't see the engraving. I have told her to tell me should there be any issues.
Maybe check the quality of the boxes / items being sent.
